WE ARE TEAM __ !

How can we use the "We Are Team" poster?

Using the personalized "team poster" is another way to extend and reinforce the learning that has taken place during your Cooperative Adventures classroom program.

bulletPost this poster in a prominent space.  (e.g. Many teachers have chosen to post it on the inside of their classroom door.)

bulletRefer to your class as "Team #."  Encourage them to do the same.  Use the phrase "Team #" as a signal for their attention.

bulletBrainstorm a list of skills that "make your class a team."  Post this list along with the poster.  A "list of things that get in our way when we're trying to be a team" can also be helpful.

Brainstorm a list of words that describe your class.  Have your students write their one-word descriptors on a sheet paper posted along with the poster.  (Don't forget to include words such as "readers," mathematicians," "problem-solvers," etc.)  Keep adding to this list by adding items yourself as well as encouraging your students to do the same.  Ask your principal to stop by and add his/her descriptors for your class.  Ask other classroom visitors to do the same.

bulletMake a list of individual class members along with the way(s) they are helping the class become a better team.

bullet"I'm willing to _____."  Make a list of promises that each individual makes that add to the class' goal of teamwork and respect.  Writing these on strips of construction paper, signing and decorating them, and fashioning them into a chain that can be added to throughout the year is another idea.

If you can think of other ways this poster can be used, please be sure to share them with Dave so that he can share them with others.
