Georgia Student to be Tried as an Adult in School Shooting
New York Times, 8/12/99As his schoolmates went back to classes today, 15-year-old T. J. Solomon learned he would be tried as an adult for the May 20 shooting of six students at Heritage High School.As a result of Judge Schneider's decision, the Solomon youth will face 21 felony charges when tried in Rockdale County Superior Court. If convicted on all counts, he could face up to 351 years in prison. In a juvenile-court trial, conviction on those same charges would bring a maximum sentence of five years.
Parents Clueless as to What Set their Son Off
